Technical Masks
For these mask collections, I was inspired by car and architectural design trends, using fabrics and textures from technical shoes and gloves.
Roles and responsibilities:
Researching & sourcing medical-grade nano materials; Trend research; Art Direction and concept development; Fabric directional concept; Design sketches; 3D sampling team lead; UX design team lead; Researching regulations; Testing coordination, including protocol setup.

Design Sketches
The design language was based on the use of dynamic colors and blocking of technical fabrics with performance features
3D Sampling
3D digital sampling allowed fast experimentation with structure and colors. It also allowed contact free sampling process during COVID.
Work in Progress
After the 3D sample approval, colors and fabrics were assigned based on technical performance, breathability, stretch and hand feel
Nano Technology
Research and testing led us to use nano filters inside technical masks. This provided more design freedom with fabric use, using lighter weight mesh fabrics, and structural design lines.
Final Samples
The sport mask features a flexible rib nose gaiter, reflective side print for traffic safety, and a 3D mesh panel to host the Nano membrane.
Fashion Masks
Featuring the signature Luly Yang butterfly print, these are lined with medical grade breathable filters.
Private Label Masks
Sport masks were branded and customized for Luly Yang clients
